Refillable pod systems from Vaporesso, UWELL, SMOK, Geekvape, VOOPOO, Lost Vape and more — compact devices you fill with your own e-liquid. New to pod systems? Here’s how they work.
What Is a Pod System?
A pod system is a compact vape with two parts: a rechargeable battery, and a removable pod that holds the e-liquid and the coil. Most are draw-activated — you just inhale, with no button to press — though higher-end models add adjustable wattage and airflow.
The coil lives in the pod. On most compact kits it’s built in, so you replace the whole pod when the flavor fades; on larger pod mods the coil is separate, so you replace just the coil and keep the pod.
Open or Closed? Refillable or Pre-Filled?
| Open (refillable) | Closed (pre-filled) | |
|---|---|---|
| How it works | You fill the pod with your own e-liquid | Pods come pre-filled; replace the pod when empty |
| Flavor choice | Any e-liquid you like | Whatever flavors the brand makes |
| Cost | Lowest over time | Higher per pod, but no filling |
Everything on this page is an open, refillable pod system. For pre-filled pods, see our disposable pod vapes.
Choosing a Pod System
- Simplest and cheapest: compact kits at 16–20W, like the UWELL Caliburn AZ3, Lost Vape URSA Baby, or Geekvape Wenax Stylus. No settings to learn.
- Everyday all-rounders: around 30W with adjustable airflow, like the Vaporesso XROS 6, UWELL Caliburn G5, or VOOPOO Argus G3.
- More vapor: pod mods at 40–80W, like the Vaporesso Luxe XR Max 2, VOOPOO Argus E40, or Horizon Talons 3.
- Fewest refills: the Vaporesso ECO Nano Plus, with a 6ml pod.
Pod systems are designed for nicotine salt e-liquid and a mouth-to-lung draw — the style closest to a cigarette.

What Are the Downsides of a Pod System?
Worth knowing before you buy:
- Pods and coils are consumables. You’ll replace them every week or two, which is an ongoing cost.
- Smaller battery and capacity than a box mod, so more frequent charging and refilling.
- Less power. If you want the biggest clouds, a box mod kit will go further.
- Parts are device-specific. Before buying, check that pods for your model are easy to get — see our vape pods page.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is a pod system?
A compact vape made of a rechargeable battery and a removable pod that holds the e-liquid and coil. Most are draw-activated, so you simply inhale to vape.
What’s the difference between an open and closed pod system?
Open systems are refillable — you fill the pod with your own e-liquid. Closed systems use pre-filled pods that you replace when empty. Everything in this collection is refillable.
Is a pod system better than a disposable?
For regular vapers, usually. A pod system costs more upfront, but e-liquid and pods cost less over time than buying new disposables, and you can choose any flavor you like.
What e-liquid should I use in a pod system?
Nicotine salt e-liquid, typically 25–50mg, which suits the low-power, mouth-to-lung style of most pod systems. Higher-power pod mods may work better with lower strengths.
