Will 20700 batteries be a game changer?

In May 2017, iJoy will bring the first vape 20700 battery and box mod to the market. 18650 batteries have been dominating the vape game as the number one e-cig battery since the dawn of the industry in early 2007. At the same time, Tesla Motors have also switched to engineering their car batteries out of 20700 batteries now instead of 18650 batteries. This marks a major turning point in lithium cell standard and is a testament to the prowess of the 20700 battery.

iJoy 20700 Battery Specs:

- Size: 20700

- Type: Li-Ni

- Typical Capacity: 3030mAh

- Minimal Capacity: 3000mAh

- Nominal Voltage: 3.7V

- Peak Voltage: 4.2V

- Cut-off Voltage: 2.5V

- Dimensions: 20.4mm (Diameter) x 70.1mm (Length)

- Rechargeable: Yes

- Max Continuous Discharging Current: 40A

- Max Pulse Discharging Current: 85A

- Style: Flat Top

- Color: Black and Gold

- Rated Capacity: 3000mAh

The real limitation is the number of devices uses 20700 batteries. The success of the 20700 is dependent on the adaptation of 20700 devices. The relationship between the battery and device is not only mutually dependent but also symbiotic in this early stage of cell standard revolution.

I currently run them in the Captain PD270 and as far as it being the closest to a true 30a I can see it being an option for certain manufacturers but not for all. The batteries are thicker and longer than the 18650 so I can see that being a downside to the consumer that doesn’t like a heavy device. But on the other hand, if it were 30a/4000mah, that could make consumers not mind the extra weight. The 3 most concerns or gripes that I have be told and read
1: The 510 needs to be centered on the device
2: The batteries need to last
3: The Temp Control needs to work properly.

So, I can see the 20700 being used since it’s in the top 3.
Vape happy, Vape safe, Vape on.
