#WeVapeWeVote: Sheena W.

From Sheena W.:

I am a 36 year old healthcare worker in the process of quitting smoking, at the advice of my doctor I picked up a vape. I’m proud to say I’ve been tobacco free since July 5, 2020. Since then I’ve stepped down from 48mg of nicotine to 30 then 24 then 12 and I’m currently using 6mg. The goal is to get to zero but I’m afraid if you took away the vape now, I’d be back to smoking cigarettes with all the harmful tar and other additives.

I work in the operating room at St. John and I care about my health, I’ve seen the effects of lung cancer and I don’t want to die. We do navigational bronchoscopies to help patients get early diagnosis, we do lobectomies and pneumonectomies and I really don’t want to be a patient going through that. Please, please don’t take away the only thing that’s helped me to quit smoking for the first time in 20 years. 20 years of cigarettes is a hard habit to break and I just can’t understand why anyone would want to take away this cessation aid.

Thank you,

Sheena W.
